10 races live on C4, all others highlights only.
Sky monopoly begins 2019.
-
• #6053
Was hoping to find some decent odds on Max for WDC, nothing more than 3/1.
Bastards.

Sky monopoly begins 2018 i thought?
-
• #6055
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.
-
• #6056
Couldn't you at least be a bit cordial?
-
• #6057
It looks better in real life. The orange is off in that picture.

Reminds me of the 'orange' days of F1:

All those flappy bits will snap off and cause lots of punctures, perhaps?
-
• #6061
Already faster times than last year in the first morning... Force India weren't joking when they said they'd be in the top three, either.
Tyre deg still looks bad though.
-
• #6062
Are those tyres in the photo, Intermediates?
-
• #6063
That photo's from 2007. The tyres are grooved slicks.

Apols. Noob error. Its my first day here. :-) Oh, there's the door.

Ferrari looking strong...
McLaren in the garage as usual.

• #6066
They were running inters too..
Hamilron on softs.
Achtung!

Ron Dennis must be laughing with relief. He was pushed out before it became apparent how woeful the Honda engines still here. He was the one that brought Honda in, so the blame is all his. I feel bad for Alonso. A truly wasted talent.

Bottas just broke the lap record for the current layout. 1:19:something

Anyone know what the bit of 'scaffolding' on the side of the Maclaren (and others) is for?

Yeah. It's to measure airspeed and pressure at specific locations and is used to correlate with wind tunnel and CFD models.
Edit: Particularly of the vortices coming off the front wheels and wing. -
• #6072
Any reason they never have them at the back?
-
• #6073
Because air coming off the back doesn't flow over the rest of the car.
-
• #6074
Why not stick them on the back and aim to make more disturbance for cars following...
-
• #6075
Because more disturbance would mean more drag.
If you create more downforce you'd generally create more disturbance anyway. The aim is to create more downforce and less drag, but the two go hand in hand and so there lies the art of aerodynamics.
Isn't F1 only available to Sky viewers this year? I hadn't intended on watching (no Sky), but if there's any of the races on standard TV I will do.
