Disclaimer: I have not felt the original Apple version. This version definitely isn't stainless steel, nor is it trying to be.
It's good. I like how precise the fit can be. With the notches on the fabric strap I have, I found that I was in between two of them. Have got this one spot on. Very good buy for 10 quid. Not as soft as the fabric strap.
