I've got a ViewSonic that seemed like a good option 2 years ago. Not as spendy as a cinema display but better than most, was around £700. Non-retina made sense then, but if I'd get a screen today it'd def be retina.
If you want something cheaper I'd figure out which Dell screen has the best rating for your budget. They seem to have pretty good options across the range and also good warranty if you get a lemon with dead pixels etc.
