• Hi

I am undertaking some research on vintage bicycles and am trying to develop some baseline information. I have developed a short survey (<2 mins to complete). If you are interested in vintage bikes I would invite you to complete the survey below.

The survey is in a simple Google Form and is anonymous.

    Many thanks

    Andy

  • I'd suggest a small tweak to your survey since I seem to fall down the cracks in it slightly.

I do own a vintage bike but, since I don't have a particular need/desire to maintain it as a concours/wholly original bike, the questions quickly become irrelevant. The only parts that I regularly buy for it are consumables i.e., brake blocks, chain, handlebar tape, tyres and these aren't vintage parts. Most substantial parts on vintage bikes seem to go on forever if properly maintained. Realistically, how often would you replace a crank?

So I'd suggest adding an "N/A" option to the question "How easy/hard is it to source original vintage parts at a decent price?" and for "Where do you purchase your parts? (select all that apply)" you should probably add an "Online forum" options since here, Cycling UK, and Retrobike will all be likely sources.
