The cranks will be fine, but choosing "old" PT over "new" PT seems like a heavy price to pay for cosmetic considerations.
No idea whether the cable-pull is different (probably not): I gave up banging my head against the wall marked "Campagnolo" some time ago. :)

Haha yeah i know the feeling! Thanks for the advice though glad to know the cranks at least should be ok. I think theres something about pull post 2015 which means all can be used together but it all seems a bit vague.
Are there other issues with the old PT other than removal? As thats now not a problem for me thanks to some forum advice, a trip to screwfix and a few physically destroyed pound coins! It is indeed hassle just for the appearance, but i don't want to go to these lengths and then be annoyed forever more i didn't just get that last bit right!

People happily swap-in eg power meter cranks, so I assume that (for once) the chainring spacing is common across manufacturers.
Ultra Shift is "better" than Power Shift, but back in the real world I doubt you'd feel handicapped by PS.
No, just the removal issue with "old" PT.

Make sure whichever shifters you use are 2015 and onwards. 2014 and older shifters will not work with Potenza, end of story.
If you intend to buy your (2015) Chorus shifters second hand then the thing to look out for is the type face on the levers will be on a solid white stripe and also the design of the hood pattern is different.
I am doing the Etape again this year and I will be using a Potenza rear mech with... Super Record shifters! why? because Campagnolo don't offer a medium cage rear derailleur in the higher gruppo range. 32t cassette reasons.
The one thing people need to understand with Campagnolo is that they don't want you to mix 'n match they want people to buy pure unsullied groupsets.
Bang for buck? Chorus mechanical 11 speed.

You could get a s/h silver Athena 10s ultratorque chainset, they work just fine with 11s chain/mechs etc.
But if you're not cobbling a group together from bits you already have, chorus is veeery nice. And the black will look cool.
Im looking to build a recently bought early 90's colnago, neoretro. Significant amount of chrome says I should be sticking with a silver groupset and wheels, and I'm keen to go higher than veloce which I have on my commuter. Was thinking potenza, but i cant hack the shimano-esque chunky crankset. Fine in black but not for me in the silver, so I was looking at going back to the 11sp athena chainset (double), and possibly finishing the rest of the groupset as potenza. Does this work? Im fine with the power torque as I have this on the commuter, so have the tools for the nightmare crank removal.
To further bastardise things I would probably go for chorus shifters which i think do work with potenza.
corrections/improvements most welcome!
cheers
