F/S: Winter Commuter/Trainer (Boardman Comp SE)

Up for sale due to a move out of town, my trusty stealth beater/commuter. I wanted a nippy, light and solid fixed commuter that I could leave locked up outside stations and pubs and this is what I came up with. Completely unglamorous, totally practical, solid, stiff and fun to ride. Currently set up fixed 48/18*

    • Frame and forks 56 x 56 Alu Boardman Comp SE from bought from @Ratshooter from this thread: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/243420/ caveat emptor regarding original carbon forks remains although I can’t see any structural damage and rode them on a hilly commute for a year with no issues
    • Had the frame powdercoated at SeaBass Cycles in Peckham last year, paint in good nick.
    • Cranks are well used Sugino Messengers with much newer VeloSolo chainring. Shimano SPDs included (or removed if you prefer)
    • Currently set up fixed 48/18 (*I think. will check tonight).
    • Forget what the BB is but it’s around 18 months old and has no play. Headset likewise.
    • Wheels are BLB hubs and rims in black. Good nick. True and smooth.
    • Nice black chromoplastic mudguards with flap on front and reflector on rear. White scuff mark on the rear but crucially: no rattles!
    • Tyres are lightly used 25c Gatorskins. Less than a year old
    • Deda Superzero crabon seatpost
    • Deda Superzero alu bars and (I think 80mm) stem. I have two other Deda stems in lengths up to 1200 I’m happy to include nominal fee
    • Bartape is obviously a tatty and wants replacing
    • Brakes and levers are unglamorous and fully functional tektro jobbies with around a year’s use. Plenty of life in the blocks.
    • Concor saddle not included in sale

Bike has been in storage since the summer and is ready to ride away. I’m in Faversham Kent but can bring into London to meet at St Pancras or anywhere central.

    £180

  • Nice bike..GLWS

  • This is such a great frame - I ride one myself everyday and love zipping around London on it. fantastic paint job and bargain price - glws!

  • Thanks man!

I think it's a pretty good price. Must have cost around £600 put together over a few months. It's half parts box beater (cranks/wheels/mudguards/pedals) and half decent new bits (bars, stem, post, chainring, b/b, brakes... and the frame's great for what it is).

  • good stuff what's the tyre clearance like ? how tall are you ?

  • Clearance is tight but clean (no rubs) with 25c Contis. Wouldn't go any bigger.

I'm 5'11" but with a long torso and short legs. I found I was a little too stretched out with a 100mm stem so changed to the 80mm shown which was very comfortable on the hoods. I have a 100mm and 120mm stems i'm happy to chuck in.

Couple of people interested so I'll bring the bike into London on Monday (27th). It will then be available to try/buy tat my work in Paddington.

Call/text: Oh double seven three eight, nine double six, eight double six to arrange meet up. cheers

    Allan.

  • Update: May actually have the chance to bring it in tomorrow. Will update thread if so.

  • Fair bit of interest in this. My schedule meant I couldn't get it in on the train this week but will def bring it into London on Monday. It will be in Paddington from 9am. Will go though the various texts over the weekend and let people know where they are in terms of place in the dibs queue. Thanks all.

  • I've texted everyone who has contacted m with their place in the queue. There are five dibsers.

  • tasty.

  • Can I be the 6th dibster?

  • Thanks all. Bike is now SOLD
