The tube on the adapter is a smaller diameter than a normal tyre valve, so the pump head doesn't stay on. Just slips off once the pressure goes up. I'm currently resorting to using a cable tie to hold it on, then cut it off afterwards. Not ideal.
Could you shim the tube of the adapter out a bit with a few layers of electrical tape?
