With all the chat on the forum about how people are going back to rim brakes, I thought I better find out what all this disc brake road bike malarkey is all about.

Current Build Plans
1. Caad12 Disc Frameset 2016 - Black - sadly yellow isn't available as far as I can see
2. Dura Ace Groupset - Mechanical - picked up everything minus crankset for £300
3. Ultegra Crankset - Matchy match with my Stages PM plus managed to pick up a DS only for £50
4. Set of wheels with DT 350 hubs & CX-ray spokes
  Either going with R460 rims or splashing for some 38mm carbons, not sure what real benefit is for same weight
5. TRP Spyre - Flat mount rear & post mount front
I realise hydro would be the ideal way to go, but I'll try this out first. If wanting more I'll try and sell the DA 9001 shifters and get the RS685s

Will share pictures as parts come in and build gets put together.

Also interested in how this turns out. Are you sure this frame is compatible with cable discs? Ive heard there can be problems with rear cable routing

I've seen various responses. Guess it depends on flexibility of compressionless brake housing vs hydraulic hose.

Hopefully with the 24mm spindle of the ultegra cranks I'll have more flexibility. Hoping to use the wheels mfg bb adaptor.

Done a bit more reading.

This guy managed to get things to work on his Di2 setup using a shimano crankset and the cable guide from a Synapse
