Reassuring to know, I wouldn't like to be caught in the wilds of Surrey without access to a tent shop.

Thanks to a private message from Twotents Ramsaye and to his ability with Google, I am happy to be able to report that Pullingers is still there but is now an art supplies shop and has moved to smaller premises along the street. The family who ran it sold out in 1979 but the name has been kept alive.

My first album came from Harlequin Records which was, coincidentally, exactly where Pullingers is today, It was Relics by Pink Floyd and cost 99p.

I can remember an extraordinary double discount in Summer '73/, at Boots Watford,
(which is now a bank),
which resulted in 'Dark Side of the Moon' with a sticker price of £1.75 1/2.'Faust Tapes' was also available at WH Smith that weekend at 50p.

Yes.

Although that is by far the cooler first album purchase. I have considered claiming that was my first purchase rather than Prince Charming. Is it better to appear cooler as a kid at the expense of appearing older than you are?

Fuck me you boring lot, shut up about fucking Smiths. It's meant to be a thread about a PARTY.
What drugs are we all bringing to the party? No-one say 'beta blockers'.
-
• #367
Stop derailing the derail!
WH Smith never sold drugs, so far as I am aware. Another reason to boycott.

Once upon a time I used to go into WH Smiths for my NME.
I'd read the front page/Gig reviews/Gig guide/letters page and whatever was on the back page
and then put it back on the shelf. -
