Also I forgot to ask, were the tyres you ran on Saturday dugast Ernst with black sidewall? Had been looking at those for a while.

no, they were Specialized Terra front / tracer rear. The tracer is shit, terra is ok.

I'd think the Ernst are a bit overkill for most things, especially coming into summer. I ran Rhinos all winter and never felt like I needed more grip in the mud
