5 pages of a project and no frame yet. Do you know Amey?
-
• #103
ha.
At least I've got more than just brakes.
I have wheels (h+son/hope), brakes, chain, cables, brifters, mechs...
Only thing missing is frame and chainset.

• #104
Hey my framebuilder is on a fishing holiday!
-
• #105

Something to consider: http://www.storck-bicycle.cc/sale/frames/45cm-visioner-carbon-blue

Good find but that reach?
-
• #109
Very nice colour. Sort of weak vimto.
-
• #110
Internal top tube, they dont do that anymore.
-
• #111
Why not? Hmm

Frame is in the post! Slow USPS post....
Say I wanted to do a 1x11 set up with my Ultegra bits but....
1: is that cray for long rides? I don't know how much front mech shifting I do to begin with...might have to keep track
2: crank options?
3: benefits other than weight and upshift/downshift kerfuffles....? (i don't want to become a weight weenie)

You'll have to change the title of the project now ;)
-
• #114
Yes, mulling over titles now...

• #115
how about 'fuck disc brakes' ?
-
• #116
or "disc brakes are dead: the [shorter] sequel"
-
• #117
do it
-
• #118
your thread did provide me with this:
http://www.renehersebicycles.com/boulderbicyclerroadsport.htmwhich looks to be very close to ritchey geo. and I love their geocities-style website.

it is what mr pink was till last year, I think mid reach is where its at for the NonFatĀ®
If Shimano made a direct mount mid reach caliper on the cheap I'll be commissioning another frame LOL
-
• #120
maybe I should've renamed the thread to "front mechs are dead [maybe?]"
-
• #121
nah dont go 1x .. 1x has a purpose which is simplicity and low maintenance at a price of heavier cassette and gappy gears both of which shouldnt be on a road bike. Do it on a winter/commuter bike.
-
• #122
define "NonFatĀ®"?
-
• #123
no idea tbh, I know giants who are happy with rim brakes, this whole disc brake thing is basically saying 'look how great braking is but at a cost of ride quality/weight/maintenance etc.'
-
• #124
Look at the bright side-it's now possible to shop really amazing rim brake wheels at decent prices because all the hoi polloi are flogging them for disc compatible ones. I just got me a lovely set of minty HED Ardennes for my Cannondale for a few shekels.

Disc break revolution = good marketing.
thx, I'll register for an account and see if he/she will ship to the UK.
