WTF is that?
Sits like a spacer under the stem. Turning the nut increases the height of the spacer, increasing the headset preload.
Could be used as an alternative to a bung...if fork producers didn't tell you to fit a bung as a brace anyway.

ahh now I get what he ment by compression assembly.. what I posted was an alternative to a compression plug. but I use this for all my bikes, light and works perfect:
(it's an extralite ultrastar 3)
