Could use a Rotor 3D24... tbh I'm in the dark with BB standards and crank compatibility. Never had to change my Cannondale's so haven't really looked in to it.
SRAM Red or Rotor then?
-
• #78
You can use Rotor 3d30 or 3D+ as well.

I had fouling issues with Rotor cranks and a SRAM eTap front mech on a standard BSA shell bike. There's a compatibility document somewhere on SRAM's website which details how much clearance you'll need.

Why wouldn't you use Sram red cranks? Or brakes?
-
• #82
I echo this plus they are cheaper than DA
-
• #83
SRAM Red GXP crankset surely?
-
• #84
Wonder if its needle bearings in that.
I always thought these frames were noice but BB86 WTF LOL

Single pivot calipers fucking suck, especially on smaller frames with tight cable routing. Plus I like the industrial look of 6800. I might swap these 6800 calipers with the Red ones on my Cannondale if I think it'll work better.
@amey he's a man of exceptional taste.
@edscoble that is looking likely. Cheapest too.
Now... should I 52/36 for a summer bike for racing and riding fast? I run a standard on my Cannondale but everyone is telling me to go semi compact for more spinning and and easier time when I visit the mountains...
-
• #86
Semi compact every time.
-
• #87
Literally zero reason to use a double other than ego - naturally I have one.
52/36 with an 11-25 > 53/39 with 11-28.
-
• #88
36/25 is tough in the mountains. 34/28 is optimum
-
• #89
Yep. That's why I've got one too.
I'll do some research and ask the office hitters but I think I'll go semi this time.
-
• #90
11-28 11 speed is basically the same as 10 speed 11-25 with an 28t sprocket on top.
Always 11-28.
-
• #91
<3 BB86.
-
• #92
I wouldn't ride a 10spd 11-25
-
• #93
If its your race bike and you mostly ride circuits then go standard! no need for a semi unless your road racing, might as well have a 53, you'l need it one day when your sprinting with a tail wind, and everyone will think you've got huge balls.
-
• #94
It's more a summer bike than a dedicated race bike, so crits, rr's, summer smashfests and holidays. A semi-compact makes sense to me. I'll keep the standard on the Cannondale because I'll probably be crit racing on that until summer, or at least until I get my Cat 3 and can avoid the pileups...

tbh I did all my riding around Bath last year on 53/39 and a 12-25. Didn't feel like my climbing suffered much. I'm also lighter now than I was then.
-
• #96
Those climbs - whilst plentiful - are short.
-
• #97
Indeed.
After an hour of climbing, you really wanna get that 28t sprocket.
-
• #98
50/34 - 12/32 motherfucker.
-
• #99
Easiest way to solve that problem is to ride up them quicker 😇
-

PB everything!
The cannondale spindle isn't long enough to fit a BB86, since a cannondale spindle is 78mm (and asymmetric) and a BB86 shell (like it's name suggests) 86mm..
