  • Think I'm gonna swerve weighing in on any internet injury diagnoses and just note that my Achilles is feeling a lot better for (a) physio and (b) rest/x-training. As ever I'll never really know which of these was most significant, but despite being quite sceptical of physios' capabilities generally I'm pretty sure there was an immediate effect from the manipulations that I received on the couch on Tuesday. According to the same guy I saw about a year ago, it's the same problem I've had with my psoas muscle tightening and causing misalignment, which was tightening the calf and putting undue stress on the Achilles. Range of movement was immediately better, but still some tenderness so I've been cautious since then, with a couple of 6 mile runs Wednesday/Thursday, then bike rides of 30 miles/47 miles yesterday and today. Will try a longer run tomorrow, 15 miles if it feels OK, and maybe marathon training will be back on track next week, including the National XC a week today.
