Thanks I shall check them out too

Get some more spokes and stiffer rims. This shouldn't be happening.
We are 180kg on our tandem, and we haven't snapped a spoke in 3 years.

Has anyone else used them
Rob Warner?
I have never had a rear wheel on my road bike last longer than 2 months without spokes snapping
Srsly?!
I remember when everyone used @arup - I've still got a bunch of his builds, all going strong. Didn't suggest him because he's not central or north, but if he's still at it and you can travel, hit him up.

Butted spokes make all the difference

I think I would quit cycling if I had to deal with a broken spoke every 2 months

Unless you're doing dirt jumps on the way to work every day I don't see how this can be anything other than dodgy builds or weight-weenie shit.
I weigh more than you and I think I qualify when it comes to riding bikes hard.

I have no idea why it happens. I have used Arup, Harry Rowland and some local bike shops to build up wheels. I have also bought off the shelf shitty Shimano things. I have resorted to using 28mm tyres as it seems to help.
I will get these wheels built up by one of those recommended above and I guarantee by summer I will have posted a pic here of broken spokes on said wheels... -

RS10 - 6 years of use and counting.
-
• #7587
The Rs10's that came on my bike lasted 3 weeks. The replacements lasted 2...
Seriously I am not making this up. It's fucking annoying -
• #7588
You need to learn to bunnyhop over the craters you are riding into.
-
• #7589
I tend to break rims before spokes go.
You must be the unluckiest man on earth.
-
• #7590
Yeah, I wear out rims, the builds are fine.
Which is annoying because the hubs and spokes are fine.
-
• #7591
Do you ride with big fucking panniers? Seek out potholes? Frequently try and fail to hop curbs?
-
• #7592
Have you considered cycle training?

The strange thing is that I have never broken a spoke on my fixed bikes either on the road or on the track.
I had a pair of Goldtech hubs on Mavic rims that I used everyday for 5 years without them even going out of true. Dura Ace hubs on Mavic rims again no problem. I figured it was a road wheel thing and I was just doomed to having to put up with this.
My current back wheel has had a spoke broken for 3 months and I have just left it as is :( -
• #7594
No. I don't do any of this shit. I consider myself a very good rider

mike's road cassette...

lol. I will post an update in a few weeks//months :) Thanks for the advise

Get some Kyseriums or something with a reputation for being bomb proof and OTP - that way when you kill it you can keep returning them to Mavic.
Mavic could use you as durability tester or something.
-
• #7598
I sold a set of Ksyriums that came with my Tarmac. I didn't break them.
Durability?

I did actually look at those but didn't like the lack of spokes. I figured they'd last me a month at best

Fewer spokes to break innit
I have never had a rear wheel on my road bike last longer than 2 months without spokes snapping and I have been through many in the last 5 years from various builders. I am 90kgs and ride my bikes hard
