  • I knew you'd bite on that. Iraq was wrong yes - and that's not news. But the left's hatred for Blair and the narrative of his whole premiership as a failure (which is totally untrue) is one of things that opened the door for David Cameron. That's part of what I mean by the bigger picture.

    Peace in Northern Ireland, every A&E modernised, a minimum wage, devolution, huge steps towards equality, progressive welfare policies, significant investment in education, Sure Start, etc. etc. etc. Blair changed the very landscape of Britain and I would say largely for the better. Characterise it as sweet PPI and you're doing the Tories work for them.

    More importantly he made Labour electable - how's Corbyn doing with that?

  • That's true. And I do agree that his 'mission' on Brexit is misguided and will not be helpful.

    I'm no Blairite but I am a Labour supporter and I don't think constantly denigrating the history of the party helps anyone. Except the Tories.
