I found that out the hard way too - unfortunately you need to sort that out instantly.
Before I left the garage after doing a PX, I sorted out insurance (obviously). Then filled up down the road and called up Green Flag to notify them of the change. Got home and sorted out the residents parking permit switch online. Was going to sort the tax online the following morning and BOOM, a wild clamp appears (at 5am on a Sunday morning). It's my own stupid fault - I just didn't realise that it wasn't something you have any period of grace in sorting out, as I don't tend to buy and sell cars often. What added insult to injury was that, despite being able to clamp it under shadow of darkness on a Sunday morning, they wouldn't unclamp it until Monday, although they did do that very early.
