Every vehicle I've bought in last 3 years has been at utter twat to tax. Mostly as even with recently issued v5, it doesn't work on that website, or the phone service and you can't get hold of a person.
Only solution is to ask your post office (if you can find one that even does vcd) to tax it and tick the box that says "v5 present" meaning they are lying about it, but only way.

How long have people waited for v5s to arrive?
I tried to tax my car with the new owner slip when I bought it but the website wouldn't allow it so I thought I'd just wait until the full logbook came through. It never did and today I got clamped... kind off pissed that there isn't just an office I can go into and get this all squared away.
Edit: wheels were too big to clamp properly so I could literally just drive away from it but that doesn't solve my problem.
