  • Yep, having double checked the measurements of the frame its a large and matches the geo on that chart, thanks for that mate!

  • My mates it's photos he sent me possible to big

  • I can remove and refit bosses, I have the tooling and epoxy to mount them as I do it on all our carbon frames. DM me.

  • @HPx93, good news. Btw what height are you? I was concerned this size was too big for me.

  • Im 6 foot but im not that sure it fits just yet, it fits for height but im very unsure about how much reach I need. Still learning a lot about bike fit so all internet bike fits are welcome!

  • You have PM, will be a good excuse for me to come and see some of your work in the flesh!

  • So todays ~progress~

For some reason the headbadge was like 1cm off center and its ugly so I used a bit of floss to remove it, worked a charm (though it didnt appear to be all that well attached.

Im guessing that its saved me like 2g too!

(For some reason i forgot to take a pictute once the residue was cleaned off)

Thanks to @Jules for the tip.

  • At 6' you should be about the perfect size I'd say, unless you have very long legs for your height.

Good choice for your first carbon frame, it should build a nice bike. They ride quite well and are pretty comfy, although they're not as stiff as some of the newer carbon frames.

What's the rest of the spec going to be?

  • 3 hours and that's all you did?

  • You know full well the rest of it was spent trying to clamp this damn rivnut and eating pita bread and hummus

  • Sat it on some wheels, clears 25c gatorskins on these fulcrums so will probably go for something of a similar width, wheel suggestions people. Want carbon but that probably isnt in budget even second hand? Not too high profile. And more importantly LIGHT!

  • That's good news my bro will be happy to know that

  • Not got the frame back from having bottle cage bosses refitted, so I'm currently buying bits to peice together the build.

I currently want some new bars, and need a new seatpost (the one in the pictures is a loaner) ideally gloss finish carbon (to match the frame) and not layback.

Latest peice of this very slow puzzle. Is in the form of a stem, Kalloy uno 110mm 17° bargain at £20ish posted (cheaper if you can be arsed to wait for it to come from taiwan) doesn't look much, but it comes in at a very respectable 115g on my kitchen scales.

  • Now dont panic, i havent gone mad. I know those decals are disgusting.

But luckily they are also very easily removed, took about 15 minutes while i waited for my pizza to cook.

Solid nights work, now to put my feet up.

  • Nice start !

  • Maybe Hylix for the seatpost? They are pretty light, although quality is what you would expect for the price.

  • Im not massively fussed on the quality, but would like to keep my rear free of carbon splinters.
those do look nice to be honest, but am j any better off with one of those over another chinese carbon seatoost from ebay or the likes?

As Ive got a ~no brand~ stem now the seatpost should probably also be free of logos.

Eventually if it all fits okay I may paint the frameset and colour code the stem.

  • Wheels? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cosine-32mm-alloy-clincher-road-wheelset/
    -deep, wide, light
    -tubeless
    -affordable

I should definitely be getting commission from wiggle... The only reason I don't own these is because I bought other wheels just before they released these :(

  • Let me know how you get on with the rivnut/bottle mount fiasco, got a dead thread in my ribble frame I need to sort at some point.

  • Hmm they do tick most of the boxes! (Sadly not the "is carbon?" One) maybe I could live with that!

  • I gave up and sent it over to @coldharbour in the end.
Is your frame alu or steel? it may be easier for you if so, my issue was that I couldn't grip the riv nut tight enough to remove the original bolt that was in it (as that seems to be seized in the riv nut too annoyingly) if it wasn't i'd have followed the method in this video to refix it!
