  • Thats very odd... looks like you were quite unlucky! Although all sounds like they are sorting it...

I bought a refurb MacBook about 12 years ago and it came in a brown box! Bought a refurb Apple TV a few months back and it came in a more bespoke white box... not sure if thats any help.

  • My luck with Apple has always been bittersweet... more bitter than sweet as you might well remember with my pervious experiences... I guess at least they are not trying to blame me as I did wait for 2 days before opening the box (working late shifts, sleep was more important than anything etc...)

Does the white box actually state Apple Refurbished? I read somewhere Apple now uses a very similar box to their retail version but it does say Apple Rfurbiushed on the front and back to prevent people from selling them as brand new...

This keyboard makes me feel like I cannot type properly...

  • Just dug out my box.. aye, say refurb on it...

  • Thanks. Guess I shall have 1 last faith with Apple...

  • Wow that sucks!

On that macrumor forum several people have had scratches and whatnot on brand new 2016 laptops so it's not that unusual that Apple themselves fuck it up occasionally.
I hope you get a replacement that you can be happy with.

I'm still totally happy with mine. It can work out fine in the end.

  • My luck with Apple has always been bittersweet...

The War of the Roses comes to mind.

  • Oh no, these things happen I don't have that big a problem with it other than the delay in setting up my Mac properly... shit happens and it's OK... to a point.

My biggest issue is with their customer service, why be nasty and refused to help until they are being shouted at? That was no good for either party... and the bullshit that came out of their mouths...

  • Does anyone know of an adaptor/hub that will connect to the new MacBook with only one USB-C and offer 2x USB-C input?

One to charge and one to use for actual USB-C device...I can't honestly believe its so difficult but I can't find one anywhere. Did they only offer USB-C so as to use it as an input for hubs that don't give you USB-C??! Why use USB-C then! (I'm irritated ples help).

  • From what I've read, that doesn't support charging of the MacBook

  • Ahhhh.. sorry... I've seen plenty with one USB C port so could a solution be to use a non USB C peripheral and charge via USB-C on the hub?

  • Same as me, only seen single USB-C compatible hubs - this confuses me because it means all the benefit of USB-C is being wasted by being a charger and can't be put to use. I have a USB-C hard drive, I thought it would make sense seeing as the computer only has a USB-C input but actually it would have made it easier if I got a USB-3 hard drive, the irony. Haha rant over. Thanks though

  • Crazy ey? Are you able to do a simple cable swap on the external?

  • Brilliant, that's what I'll do. There are a few USB-C to USB 3 cables that I've seen and then any hub will allow charging and a USB 3 input. Very helpful, cheers

  • BOOM. No worries, hope it works!

  • Is it just me or anyone else realized that you can no longer charge / connect your iPhones to the new Mac without an extra connector / dongle? Apple should pay for that!

  • Apple should pay for that!

  • Buys $2000 laptop. Complains about $2 USB adaptor.

  • Does anyone have an idea why my Disk Utility keeps popping up when I start my Mac or wake it from sleep? I'm on Sierra 10.12.2. It's like it's trying to tell me something but I don't know what...

Only started happening recently but not after I upgraded to 10.12.2 so I don't know what's triggered it.

  • I've been waiting two years for Apple to upgrade the Mac mini so I can get the latest new model.. can someone please get hold of Mr Cook and find out what's gong on? Is it being scrapped? .....
    .....

  • Blinkin 'others' files clogging up my storage/HD, any tips on cleaning up my MacBook Pro?

    Thanks in advance! Red

  • OmniDiskSweeper will show you where the space is going.

  • Just got an email from Tim, "very exciting products in the pipeline" according to him. I'm sure that means a great update is only weeks away! And a MacPro!

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks for that, I'll have a look!
