  • There's time to be gained on the turn:

Don't hit the off ramp to hard at the bottom as it gets steeper. Ride up just to right of white line. Push on over top

Keep left over bridge so you can treat 2nd rab like a corner and turn in to apex

Big burst upto speed at top of slip then mini recovery

It's worth putting some big efforts in top minimise damage to your ave

  • Nice one. The Premier Inn is close by so should have time to do some practice the afternoon before.

In the meantime I took a clubmates advice and created the closest 10 mile loop I could that is flat and, early morning, should be relatively traffic (light) free.

Actual route is pretty minging from memory but that's not really the point.

  • Yeah that stretch is shit. Crap road surface, loads of lorries doing at least 40mph with a mix of one and two lanes each way. On the plus side, northbound should be pretty free of left hooks once you get past the first couple of roundabouts and turn-offs.

  • As above, that stretch really is horrific - as well as the issues mentioned above there are a few sets of lights on it too.

Move it about a mile east and you have the roads up through Epping - they should be just as quiet at that time, and although they're a bit more up and down, you're less likely to do damage to yourself or your bike.
