Ha! That's such typical cat behaviour! We had the Eames in the living room for a bit but then swapped it around for the standard-issue Ikea Ekenesat. Cat was overjoyed.
Positive angle to the RAR though – impossible for cat to sharpen her claws on it/destroy it. Backing to the Ekenesat already in shreds.

Well, it's not *un*comfortable, but I've come to the conclusion that they look better than they feel to sit on. Basically, you can't get around the fact that there's no padding.
Rocking is fun though and if your place is vaguely 50s onwards it'll look awesome.
