East to West. That secteur will really test the puncheurs amongst the group.

Yep, always been the one to sort the wheat from the chaff just be thankful we vetoed the actual Wests pub.

Slaughtered Lamb starts at 18:00... are you all going to arrive wasted at 20:30?
Why not cut The Lamb out, and head straight to the Slaughtered Lamb after the Stonemasons... this allows for the case that if you're behind schedule (normal for a GSIAD) then the weak-legged can head from Easts to Slaughtered Lamb directly and arrive to get food and rest before the music starts and the mob arrives.

Ha, nice one, Jonny and Matt. Is this meant to be the original venues? Just thinking as I see the Trinity Arms and the Stonemasons in there. SEs started at the King's Arms in Tooley Street (the Roebuck was the venue for much longer and more popular, though), and Easts at the Royal Inn, which is no longer the pub it was. I expect you'll have taken all this into consideration. :) Was the first Central drinks at the John Snow or at the Lamb? I can't remember, probably because I wasn't there.

Never will forget when we rolled that a few years ago.

The first central was just joining messengers on a Friday evening, and at that time they were using the Jon Snow on Broadwick Street, it was also the starting point of a lot of the alleycats at the time.

yes boss the Lamb will almost certainly be cut out in our thirst to make it along to it's slaughtered brethren. (have updated thread accordingly)
i forgot to check the time of the birthday bash and didn't realise it was an early KO.

a nod to some of the original or early venues. with some of the more recent ones (Chesham Arms) in the mix too.

Probably be a few doing that anyway.

I think this encapsulates how we pictured the day turning out. The Lamb was largely wishful thinking but perhaps we can slip it in if we can keep people focused on the task.

The selection was more about strong identities with the relevant drinks rather than original venues, except Wests which was merely choosing somewhere not quite so close to Wales.

Never done a GSIAD (or a week)...seems as good a time as any to start! (@hillbilly ?)

Should start at the venue furthest from the weighted geographic centre. Then participants invest their own time in making one of the long journeys before the event begins.
Thus the (very East), Wests venue of Hammersmith, is the start point, then Norths, Easts, South Easts, South, Central then the Party.
Not expecting any changes.
See you there. -

That's not how a grand slam works, though. compass drinks, in the order they occur through the week. #themstherules

The twist about GSIAD has always been that it's done in the order of when drinks happen throughout the week. :)

I may do this, as I've got a 40th birthday out in St Albans on the same day as the party, so could roll early round the compass drinks and then drop into the party early before heading out to the wilderness of St Albans..

He's from Wales.
To help mark the 10th Anniversary of this here forum it seems fitting that one of its finest and most stupid traditions be observed - The Grand Slam In A Day. So let's do that.
I know the idea was knocked around by the Norths lot recently and I have been pm'ing with @middleofnowhere to make sure we are synced up. Matt and I will 'lead' this ride on the day.
The plan is simple. Visit compass beers in a day. And end up at the Slaughtered Lamb. Those that have done this before know that making any plans beyond that (route, timings, etc.) is a waste of time. But in the interests of giving the ride/piss-up some kind of form here we go:
Done in the proper order of compass beers -
Then on to the Slaughtered Lamb. You will need a bike, a lock, some lights, some cash. And the appetite for a few beers, a few laughs and around 40 odd miles of rolling.
