• Bought a hand built wheel from spa cycles using a PD8-X hub.

The hub has a through axle style adaptor and once the adaptor is added, it does not sit well in my specialized sequoia elite! Without the slide in adaptor, everything sits well!

    Not sure what to do!

  • Chuck the bike in the bin and get one with a shorter wheelbase and proprietary brakes.

  • The dynamo end cap sits on the dropout ,as the fork clearly only accepts 12mm thru hubs. You can hope that that particular section is still aluminium and file a bit away. Or wait till SP release a dedicated model. Or over to Schmidt to get Sondelux in 12mm.

  • Super annyoing...as the I swapped the rear wheel to a 12mm through hole jut fine.

Is it the fork thats rubbish or the PD8-X dynamo hub that is non standard?

  • None of the components are rubbish.
Your hub is not compatible with your fork. You need a dedicated 12mm thru axle hub. Rather then 15mm with a 12mm conversion tube.
At present moment your only option is Schmidt

  • Isn't the conversion tube just a bit too long?

Couldn't it be cut/filed so that it fits correctly?

  • I endorse this message.

  • The conversion tube is actually a bit shorter than the hub itself!
