Last time I went for a ride on GP4ks I had two punctures.
Took them off after that and put them in the shed, where they still reside.
To be fair, it was very wet and lots of flint had washed onto the road. Lots of people were getting punctures.
So maybe I retired them a bit prematurely and should put em back on again for the summer...

They held up pretty well when commuting or riding to Herne Hill/racing in the summer, however I did attempt a road ride and punctured twice in quick succession (but were fine the remaining 50 miles).

I did 2000 miles last year on a pair of Michelin Pro Race 4s with zero punctures. They still have some miles left in them too.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll only use them when it's dry, as I have a slick type tyred MTB for icky weather, so it sounds like they'll do ok. And they feel a bit nicer than GP4000s.

Have used a set for just over 2000k (including several 200k audaxes) and haven't had any punctures at all.

You need to develop tyre fitters thumb more. Struggled with mine , 28s on giant disc rims, eventually went to lbs and mechanic showed me how to make it less of a struggle. One bead on, tube in, valve at 6 o'clock on the floor, put bead in at 12 o'clock, feed bead in and push towards floor, gives a bit of "slack" when you get to the valve, and on it pops.

Use the heel of your hand to roll the tyre bead over the rim. It has more purchase and strength than using thumbs. I know someone who dislocated a thumb using poor technique.

CompetitiveCyclist.com has Vittoria Open Pave Evo CG III (25mm and 27mm) for sale at around $25 each!
Seems like a great deal.
Just a shame about the $75 shipping to the UK (plus import taxes).Sweet deal for anyone in the US though!

You loosened them up from the first try. Natch.
Good to bump into you today. Hope the Croydonx wasn't too bleak. Lemme know about the ride. It's all about the ride.

Have a Pacenti SL23 wheelset on the way and thinking that I'd like to try Corsa G+ on them. Anyone have any experience with this combination? Thinking I will go for 23s as they'll almost certainly come up wider on that rimset, correct me if I am wrong?
-
• #4144
Yeah on a HED C2 rim my 23's come up as 27 and 25's came up as 29

700c 35-38c mostly off road clincher for mixed surface touring and mucking around in the woods? Have Bon Jons for day to day but fancy something nobblier for my lht as well. Fancy knards but suspect 41c is too much for my mudguards.

Ooo I'd not seen those before, shame they're not a touch knobblier on the shoulders for Epping slime.
entirely anecdotal but i went for a 130km ride with a dude using those and he had 4 punctures. I was on gp4000 and had none.
