  • It's probably something wrong on my end but it's only affecting my browsing of LFGSS so I'll post it here. In chrome, my LFGSS tab is constantly crashing with an error saying "Google Chrome ran out of memory while trying to display this webpage". Happens more, but not exclusively, on pages with picture attachments. I have plenty of other media rich tabs open, other forums with embedded twitter and youtube links and things I'd expect to hog memory but they don't cause a tab crash. Only had an issue on LFGSS with what I'd assume to be much less memory intensive pages.

FWIW I have 6gb of ram at 3.5gb usage, task manager says the Chrome app is using 282mb. There's a load of chrome background processes that total around 400mb usage.

  • Any specific page that you are viewing? There's nothing I know of that should cause the issue, but maybe one of the embeds is doing something.

Also... Shift+Escape shows you Chrome task managed which will highlight problematic tabs, pages and extensions.

  • Currently the most recent page of the 'Functional bikes..' thread in bikes and bits crashes the tab every time. It tends to happen in threads with a lot of image embeds and the tab crashes while the images are loading in, but not always. For example, i can view this thread without issue despite it having loads of pictures. Using the chrome task manager the memory use seems to vary around 26mb - 52mb, doesn't noticeably spike before a tab crash but the tab disappears from the list instantly so I can't see how much it's using when it crashes. As a comparison, scrolling up and down a thread on the SomethingAwful forums with embedded tweets, youtube vids, animated gifs and jpgs is using 75mb of memory.

Pretty sure it'll be something my end though like an extension conflict, or there'd be more people having the same problem. Strange that it's only this site though.

e: Also if I have multiple LFGSS tabs and one crashes then they all do. Other tabs are unaffected.

e2: Might as well consider this solved. It started happening on another site too, I killed each tab individually then restarted so it didn't try to restore my session, then restarted my computer. Seems to be fixed for now. As always, turning it on and off again solves all problems.
