I think i started using line faders when i was regularly doing with a friend of mine. He was quite good at scratching and chopping stuff up (much better than i was) but he was used to reversing the crossfader. I got sick of accidentally cutting records off because he'd left the fader reversed, so I just left it in the middle and used line faders. I even used to use line faders to scratch and cut quickly - i seem to remember being able to crab line faders pretty well. It's been many moons since I was that kind of dj though!

I tried to teach myself to do that stuff way back but was absolutely useless at it, so I gave up... Bit pointless with 45s anyway... 😋
I tried again years later with a couple of copies of the Incredible Bongo Band LP... Bloody useless... I remember getting more and more frustrated as I got drunker and drunker as the evening's experimentations wore on...
Left and right on the crossfader, these are my skills... 😬😂
I keep both my line faders up and crossfade just because it's the way I've always done it... Old dog and all that...
My mixer (this isn't my actual mixer, mine's a bit dustier)... My sister bought this new in the 80s, I inherited it when she quit DJ-ing... I fucking love this machine...
