Main races are for Cyclocross bikes only and will run for 45 minutes plus 3 laps each.
Winners will receive £500 prize money and there's a selection of great prizes supplied by our sponsors too.
The Anything Goes Race is a run what you brung race.
Embody the spirit of ThunderCross by racing something a bit different or not racing in lycra or skinsuit.
Prizes for winners and those who challenge themselves by using inappropriate bikes or clothing.
Be imaginative.
The fun race is 5 laps (roughly 13km).Timings so far:

13KMWomen start at 13:00
45 mins plus 3 LapsMen start 14:30

45 minutes plus 3 laps is long!

Yeah, not a rare occurrence for average speeds to be as low as 15 kph on a muddy, challenging course.
I'd say there's potential for that first race over running and the others being a bit long, especially when you consider women and vets are generally only used to racing for 40mins.

We are hoping the course and prizes bring out the best in people.
Once we have ridden the complete course on the morning of the event we will make make any adjustments required.

Thanks for your concern for us older folks.

I still have flashbacks from racing a two hour "gravel" race last summer at Winchester Bowl. Everything was going okay until we hit the hour mark then my body said no more. Couldn't walk properly for a week afterwards. Amazing what race conditioning can do to you.
Anyway, this looks brutal. Looking forward to it.

I think one thing you keep as you get older is endurance. I'll be racing for an hour on Sunday and did it for the two summer series races I rode last summer too. The issue these days is speed rather than endurance.

Made a few improvements to the route and we will share a course map soon!
Final route and race times will be determined on the day but I am satisfied regardless of the weather and ground conditions we have contingencies in place to ensure a great race.

Apparently our insurers aren't too hot (LOL) about me mixing fire with cyclocross.
Can't fathom why.
So an apology from me:
We will still have a challenging and fast race for competitors and a sick CX experience for those behind the tape.
Day gonna be fully-lit, just no fire.
Sry...
