  • I got a pair of Hunt 650b rims for the PR v4, however they are (very cleverly for geared use) drilled asymmetrically - which for a symmetrical build (track hub) strikes me as illogical.

So I might use them for the the Time Machine - leaving me with the question of what do I use for the PR? And what track hub would match a SON dynamo (CLD)?

  • Asymmetrical on a track hub will be fine. If you get a single side fix hub it could actually help. There isnt really a hub that'll match a SON, so just get phil wood

  • What are the cheapest Mavic wheels with the exalith surface? Otherwise, do any other non-carbon wheels have a surface like that?

    I have plans.

  • because I'm a tart and if I can get rid of all the silver bits on my winter bike, I will.

Also someone at work has the anniversary set with the yellow spoke and I want to paint it pink.

  • lol fair .. if you have sorted the wheels cheap then great .. otherwise narrow rims and proprietary pads and sub optimal braking >>>>>>>>

I thought rapha employees were enlightened #buyers

  • buying knows no logic Amey, you should know that

  • Look at the new DT swiss oxic Dicuts, Seem to be better value and not Mavics

  • ENVE 2.2 SES are - drumroll - tubeless compatible.

Insane to use in the high mountains? We'll find out.

  • Insane to use in the high mountains? We'll find out.

    report back

  • Vittoria Elusion Nero's?? Not cheap though.

I'd be interested to know if anyone on here has these.

  • are there any polished silver wheelsets around these days?

  • H+Son Archetype rims are polished.
Velocity should make one or two silver models that are polished too. Other than that... I dunno.

  • Tb-14

  • Looking for a set of 10 speed disc hub wheels for a build for my gf. Thru axle.

Will be used for touring and general road riding.

Budget is flexible but probably around £200-£350. Could stretch for the right wheels.

    What's good?

  • I've got a Superstar built Pacenti to Icon front wheel at the moment. The rim is very close to exploding and the bearings are knackered.

What factory built front wheel can I buy that's similar (wider, lightish) and cheap. Factory built probs. If it has a similar depth to the Kinlin something or other I have in the back then all the better...

SHIMANO WH-RS010 or any other options?

  • These are fucking cheap - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cosine-24mm-alloy-clincher-road-wheelset/

Easily down to £60 with a new email address. Anyone with any experience?

  • I've been thinking of "upgrading" my Ambrosio Excellight wheel set to Archetype (silver). Besides the bling factor, will I notice any improvement in ride quality on sunny Sunday mornings in the Kent countryside?
(edit: just seen 28H minimum in the silver finish. Irrelevant hub query deleted!)

  • A couple of guys at my work have got them, one used them as a stopgap/spare set whilst he was waiting for his handbuilts to be built and the other guy's using them properly, he's not had any issues yet, but hasn't put a load of miles on them. Reviews seem alright, and they're pretty light eh?

  • I saw those too. They're somehow heavier than the 32mm versions. I don't trust them without seeing them in person.

  • hmm, yeah, I have no idea how the 24mm ones are 400g heavier than the 32mm ones? Unless one is weighed with tape and skewers, but even then...

Still, £60 is fuck all and I need wheels.

  • spam: I've just posted some wheels in the classifieds!

  • IKR. Although + cassette, tyres and tubes.

  • I bought a set of the cheap Cosine disc wheels which have ended up on my girlfriends winter/CX bike, and they seem pretty good. The hubs are Novatec, which means that even though Wiggle don't advertise it(or even admit to it when asked!), 15mm converters are available for the front. (D771SB)

I will probably buy a set of the rim brake ones you have linked to for the commuter bike pretty soon. rebuilding the old wheelset with Archetypes is just pointless at how much it will cost!
