Which Tyres?

I have black 27mm if you can squeeze it in.

The 28mm Corsa G is awesome and have surprisingly decent level of grip on the poor road of the South Down near Haslemere.

Also give enough clearance for dirt and such, I had 28mm GP4000sII that work great but measure up to 31mm and is just almost too tight on the Volare.

Yeah - a friend couldn't get 30mm Challenges in his Volare so I'm giving the Corsas a go.

Are you running tubeless?

I've had the Bon Jon ones on for the last few months and only had one puncture that the sealant refused to seal so that's almost 800 winter miles of Scottish lanes and gravel and one puncture. Not bad for extralites.

I slid out on them on some black ice but, to be fair, I probably would have slid out on any tyre.

@amey You seem to have had some bad experiences too if your IG comments are anything to go by?

I've just got some 40c Maxxis Refus that I'm gonna give a go but they weigh a tonne. Also got some 40c Ramblers to try once I build up my Wolverine.

Issue with compass (I have Barlow Pass, same tread as bon jon but wider) is the compound is not grippy, I sled twice and you can 'feel' the lack of grip while riding .. they are light, they are fast but only in dry.

I went with Voyager hyper and they come in 39mm on 20mm internal rims. Really good tyre for the money (PX has them for £14.99 each atm). Grip is amazing in both dry and wet, I've already regained my riding/cornering confidence. The only downside is that they are heavier compared to extralite barlow pass. I am running them with latex inners because thats what I had with compass and I was too lazy to go in the shed to find a butyl inner.

Bigger doesn't mean you're less likely to slip on manhole cover.

Yep, the cottons. I took a risk and ordered them from the Velodrome Shop as they had them on a decent discount. Can’t really say what they're like as so far I've only used them for an hour on the rollers. Seemed to handle that OK...

Nah, tubes for me. I'm not one to write them off to be honest - a lot of the time I feel like these things just come down to luck.
If I wasn't commuting on the bike, and if it didn't weigh about 14kg, maybe I wouldn't have swapped back to Paselas, but I do, and it does.

Gonna order the 38c Voyager Hypers from px now just cos.

Looking for fast XC style off road tyres to use for cyclocross on my Straggler, around 650x45 maximum.

the g-ones ar (the 35 and 38mm version) rolls fantastically on tarmac. they aren't much slower than my pro one 28mm or s-one (the new g-one speed) 30mm tires.

I've recently put a Michelin Pro4 Service Course 25c on the back of a commuting type bike. Like them: comfy, don't feel slow, and a genuine 25c.

Does anyone have any experience with regards to how puncture resistant they are? Comparison with gp4000?

I think they're a little more fragile than gp4k's

As I can't remember the last time I had a puncture on gp4000s, a little more fragile sounds useable. I shall stick with them, unless they unleash puncturegeddon.

Worth a try. @Scoot can comment better than me as she's been the one using them, but they're meant to roll pretty well, just not quite as fancy as gp4k's.
