  • I've got no issues with pedalling at a range of cadences on my fixed gear bikes, but why have gears with massive jumps between them when you could just have a sensible range of gears?

  • The range of gear is not dissimilar to an old 5 speed block, so for some people they're happy with staying in the same gearing, other want a more precise ratio to get just the tight comfortable spin.

    Personally a big jump can be useful to reduced the constant changing of gears = less wear and tear.
