Decided to drive my Anglia to work today. Mostly uneventful except for a smash on the M25 just ahead which brought the road to a stop for about 15 minutes.

Lovely car! But you coulda picked any numbers, couldn't you...

Nice! My good friend Charlie (who's sadly no longer with us) used to own one when we were younger. It had (what looked like) a homemade 4:1 manifold and a 6" exhaust pipe. We'd go to multistory car parks and set off car alarms with a quick blip of the throttle. Sounded epic, had no power and the scariest brakes ever.

Chap in a Lambo just drove past me in Forest Hill, he had his left arm out straight to hold his phone far enough away that he could focus on it and type with his thumb.

Double take! Thought that was mine for a second!
Sorry to hear about your mate Charlie. Hope it's not the same Chalie (think he spelled it like that) I used to know who was into Anglias? Blond-ish hair usually in a rockabilly quiff. Really nice guy into Christian things as well as his hotrods and also into fixed gear bikes.

That isn't him - but good to know there's still a few Anglia Charlie's out there!

6" as in 1/2 a foot or 15cm?
There's me thinking a 3" is too big

Yes. It was ridiculous. Completely illegal I'm sure.

Has it got a flip front?
Oh what are the specs?
-
• #32495
No back pressure at all :) Amazed it didn't do any engine damage...

Looks great, can we have some daylight shots?

Freshly waxed in my old work car park. Not normally this shiny!
@lynx yep, flip front. I did all the work on the car years ago when they were basically worthless, so new wings and front panel were out of the question. Spec is all fairly old school: 1500gt on bushed mounts, 2000E box, Capri brakes, van springs at back with uprated lever arm shocks and coilover front. Wheels I swap between these skinny ones and Lotus steels. Engine I flit between the 1500gt and my full-bore 1700cc with race head and race cam depending what I've blown up, and I also built a completely crazy 1200cc engine based on the old F3 specs, but the 1500 is always the reliable fall-back, lol!

Naughty motor, my friend Brian built a 105e with 2l pinto, big car, 4 branch etc, full group 4 suspension set-up and what a blast it was. Sideways everywhere.

Looks amazing, I've always wanted one set up without the front grill.
Lotus steels are the perfect wheel too!
