  • I have to fly for TABR so I don't have much choice. I could take my hardcase and then ship it or leave it in Belgium somewhere to collect later or send it home with the missus if she comes out.

Also, it adds to the excitement - building a new bike hours before departure :)

  • Off-road? I'm still bruised from Thetford and that was all of 3hrs. Imagine me doing ultra dirt? I'd come back just a flap of skin.

  • I meant there's an off road triple, you could set an on-road triple to top that other guy...

  • Or you could just drink some tripels...

  • I'd be up for some sort of on road ultra triple.
Sounds like the best way to take things to the next level, when the times right.

  • I wanted to do the PCW but I was already in Oz for Xmas and I'm already totally taking the piss with time off.

  • That's more like it!

I'll actually be in Belgium this weekend :)

  • Get it done. I'll make a website that looks like it's from the 90s and record completions.

  • HAHA. And it needs be 3 years behind, always.

  • like it's from the 90s

    The best kind.
4mb of js libraries so that some designer type or management can have a slider somewhere can >>>

  • Anyone started bashing out serious route plans yet? I'm trying to motivate myself to analyse the TABR route a bit so TCR is likely to be more of a panic job than last year.

  • I think I'm fairly close to finalising cp 1 and 2. The rest are harder.

  • What distances/elevs do you have for those?

  • Has Mike ever done a "here's what I would have done" after any of the previous races?

  • After TCRs? Not that I know of. He's usually racing beforehand so not sure he'd care about optimal routes although I'm sure he'd have a decent idea.

  • Yes, wouldn't expect turn-by-turn detail just an overview. Can understand why he wouldn't, just a little curious and have screen-time to kill until Wednesday.

  • He's done some kit talks after TABR and Divide. The bloke that filmed Inspired to Ride was selling some extended ones I believe.

  • Yeah. He did the divide video-log this year pre-recorded and published as he was riding. That was more what I was interested in. Kit is boring and expensive :p

  • I'll just go read some depressing articles in the news instead.

  • Just had a quick look at ripping out a route
    Stage 1: 609k, +6289m

  • I hate mapping and routes. I love kit.
Maybe we should meet and do each others race planning? :)

  • You want to list out the towns/distances/notes in my TABR route in a spreadsheet? For some reason my missus wasn't so keen...

  • Let me finish mapping out my tour of mostly volcanos and breweries in New Zealand first...

  • Pfft excuses, excuses. This is a race man! Actually, I should probably be mapping routes around Trump voters or something given the shit kicking off in the US.

  • cp1 - 628km,6,900m.

Have avoided germany and anything that looks steep until strasbourg but clearly there's some room for improvement! Never ridden in mainland europe before.

    Cp2- 569.7 km 7,931 m

Probably some small savings here, and I'm unsure about the best way into the Alps from Germany.
