Fucking hell. I was given a couple of bags of http://www.coaltowncoffee.co.uk beans for christmas. Opened one up this today and I haven't experience the smell of stale coffee in the morning in ages. It was roasted last April, and no surprises is fucking terrible. Utterly undrinkable, will need to ask @StevePeel if he is at work today and if I can get some emergency supplies.

Props to coaltowncoffee.co.uk
I had this email response from them:
Hi James,Thanks for your message. It’s a little troubling to hear that the coffee you were bought from Selfridges was roasted last April. Unfortunately, because it is an ambient product, we have to put a year’s use-by date on our coffee in order for it to be sold there. We do not usually recommend drinking coffee that is over a month to two months old, as it drastically begins to deteriorate in flavour after that point… So I can completely understand why you wouldn’t want to drink anything that was roasted last year!
We roast our coffees every Monday and Tuesday and do not sit on any stock to make sure that our customers are provided with a product of an excellent quality. Selfridges order from us on a weekly basis, so when we deliver I can assure you that they are receiving very fresh coffee. Unfortunately, what happens from then on is out of our control. If the stock is not rotated properly on the shelf in London, there’s not much we can do about it. This is the first complaint we’ve had of this nature, so I’m pretty sure that it’s just a stroke of bad luck. However, I will be looking into this today to see if we can eliminate the chances of it happening twice.
We do not like the thought of anyone having a bad experience of our coffee regardless of whether we were at fault or not, and would love to send you a replacement bag. Could you get back to me with your address and let me know whether you are you drinking Black Gold or Pit Prop?
Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you, and I’m so sorry that you’ve had to throw your beans in the bin. I hope that your second bag and your replacement restore your faith in us!
Kindest regards,
Ffion
I will also say that I was given two bags of their coffee for xmas The second one was roasted in December and when opened this morning it smelled fresh and has extracted beautifully to make a great blended espresso.

Just went to Store Street Espresso for the first time because it's near my new office, pretty good. I think they'll be taking quite a bit of my money in the future.

Best coffee filter to take camping? We live off V60 at home and would be looking to fill a large thermos each morning for the days riding.

Recently I've been ordering exclusively from Electric Coffee Co., which has been great, just ordered a bag from Coal Town after seeing the positive customer service provided to DJ, I was going to order from Dark Arts but they're a 5-10 minute ride from my flat so I'm not paying £3.30 postage, any other suggestion on coffee to try?
Going to be used in my Aeropress.
