Planning ahead for a build later in the year, or maybe early next year, just gathering parts as I can afford them.
Gonna run 1x10 with shimano downtube shifter, front ring will be 42t (as I already have one) and possibly 105 long cage r/d, so what's the biggest cassette I could run?

If you dont need the gears to be indexed you could run a mtb derailleur and pick any cassette you want. Not sure how big cassettes a 10s shimano road derailleur could clear. 32t?

Yeah, that was what I thought, ran 32t with a 105 before, but in some cases Shimano play safe on max gear size. Wondering if anyone had real world experience of maybe 34 or 36?
