That's what I thought until I popped into the LBS and had a look/test ride
Ergon claim it fixes this issue:
by supporting your hand but also altering the angle of your wrist
What I found was it fucked with the ergonomics of the brakes (angle of lever and hand don't match up) and I could relieve the issue in the first picture by just repositioning the bar (raising and shorter stem). IME the regular ergons work well enough if you just want palm support.
The sweep-specific ergons seem dumb. They just position your hand/wrist at the same angle as you would be if you had a normal flat bar, but just moved backwards a bunch. Seems like an expensive way to cancel out the benefit of the you swept/angled bar...
