There was bugger all mud! The normal swamp was just grass, unbelievable scenes.

it didn't feel right.
hills weren't any less energy sapping though. felt like i had nothing there today. Possibly my worst ever result at the Southerns.
@philpub hit my prediction of the scoring six. Top run.
It also felt like there were slightly fewer people watching than in previous years? maybe the clement weather turned them away.

Happy days. Thats none too bad for a comeback test race 😀
45min 10k could be a realistic target in the non too distant future.

Good man!
A runnable Parly Hill course may not be traditional but it suited me. Being narrowly defeated by a V40 rival was disappointing but the battle kept me going and I finished 138th, 6th scorer for the club. Happy with that and my feet feel surprisingly untrashed, so a decent (slow) long run should still be on the cards for tomorrow.

Should have been running at the Scottish Masters XC today and I'd probably have been 3rd counter for the team. Instead I was still cursing our house guest who came up full of the lurgy and shared it round at the start of the week. Pretty much over it but not race ready 😤 fuming #wanker
22mile longrun tomorrow for some fresh air (and hopefully plenty of cake afterwards) should cheer me up 😀

Thanks everyone. 45 min 10 sounds fun..

138th is superb. I'm ecstatic to have got close to the top 400. Determined to get under the hour one time too. Couple of minutes out this year but about 6 faster than last year.
@juanito I didn't notice fewer crowds to be honest but it definitely thinned out faster than I remember - final lap it was much quieter.

Tigger Tor today, a big Sheffield classic fell race. Started off well but faded early and it seems I just didn't have the legs and lungs for 15k of slippy bullshit. Fortunately 450 runners meant there was always a long line on the tracks so no actual navigation required. Time to rest for next week when I tackle 19k of slippy bullshit.

Nice one.

Eureka moment today. Realise the intensity of my easy runs had gradually crept up. Cut back to sub 140bpm moving much easier.
New trainers due soon too.
Happy days.

This is so key, sub 75% MHR makes doing all the hi intensity stuff in a week so much more achievable, with long runs cardiac drift does result in a rather disappointing positive split long runs though!

hi intensity stuff
I might try that again at some point ;)

Long Run Sunday ticked off. Now to relax and recover, while waiting for the news from Chichester to arrive. eh @philpub?
I've taken to running with my Garmin only in stopwatch form, which means i have to run to feel and can't look at pace and worry about it. Means you need an idea on route distance before setting out but at the moment it seems to be working. After reading Jo Pavey's book, which is well worth a read, I'm also trying to feel my feet as they land more rather than just plodding round.

Nice long one.
33:26 at Chichester. Reasonably pleased, was thinking sub-33 might be on but quite a stiff breeze. Also delayed start didn't help with warm-up. I might be 1st v40 but we made a quick exit so waiting for results to pop up. My new Boston Boosts saw their first race and felt great. -

nice run. sub 33 next time. fingers crossed for the results.

Long run done, was a little under avg hr target but doing the last 2 miles at marathon pace brought the whole thing up to close to target.
running with a hydration pack has reduced stress of bottles and gels during long runs, but I hadn't engaged the hose properly so it took 13 k before I could actually work out what was wrong and manage to get a drink!

Nice one finishing off @ MP, always good to know there's something left in the tank.
...2nd in age category. That'll do , £80 voucher to spend on another pair of shoes. :)

While I was running today I turned my Garmin to clock mode halfway and decided to run on feel. Strangely enough I still managed to keep a constant pace. Will try it more often.
Well Done.
