I just bought the Eastway Balun from Wiggle and am very pleased. So far 46-36 no problem although really the issue will be with the lower gears, not the high. May get a 30 cassette. I'd look for Tiagra at that price and although others will say differently, the mech/hydr brakes and more than enough.

The Verenti appear to take them at a lots less than your price.
It have long reach brakes, mean 32mm tyres can be fitted.

Does anyone have any ideas for decent bikes less than £700 than can ideally take 32c tyres and mudguards to ride for a few hours every day? Would I miss the wider range of gears on a CX bike over a road bike? What groupsets are decent and what should I avoid? Are mechanical discs worth bothering with? Sorry for all the questions (some of which I've asked before), I have no idea what I'm looking for, never bought a geared road bike before.
