Yes, that's a good idea.
But the price you get "direct", isn't always the same as through a broker.
And if things do go wrong, dealing with the courier via the broker (in my experience) complicates matters.
Personally, the modest saving of using a broker isn't worth it.
Of course, YMMV :)
Personally, my experience of "third party brokers" is poor, ie I prefer to pay the extra to contract direct with the courier.
If something goes wrong, having to deal with the intermediary is a nightmare and does not offset the modest saving.
The actual courier will be less willing to deal with things (and it is them who will pay compensation), because their margin has been cut by the intermediary's profit.
