• I'd really like to get into working on cars again. Many moon's ago, when I was a slightly inept teenager; I managed to foolishly blow up the engine in my Dad's Beetle; and as a penance I was the one who had to learn how to replace it (with help from my Dad's friend).

I really really enjoyed it and would love to get back to tinkering with cars again, however I lack the tools, the premises and to be totally frank - a lot of the knowledge.

I've been considering going to evening classes to learn some skill's involved - but I haven't found one that really suits me (most are diploma's or apprenticeships in Motor Engineering, I just want to get hands dirty and learn something practical!).

I know of places such as Pit Start which offer a self service option when working on your own car, but that's not quite what I have in mind... I learn't to repair and tinker with my bikes by assisting friends who were more experienced than myself, in the evening, over a few beers in a nice warm workshop.

Unfortunately - none of my friends are really into cars, so without wanting to sound too much like a lonely heart's advert - I'm looking for people who are. Who like to tinker with them, and would be interested in letting me help them!

This (I know, it's a bike forum!) is probably not the place to ask - but it's the only forum I'm a member of - so I thought I'd start here.
