Or the 1" threaded fork. Or the cantis. It's a pretty oxymoronic bike.

This yellow one is unbelievable, I'm really wondering now if I could just have something like this as my one and only bike, getting rid of the road bike.
Probably not, but life would be so simple.

The seat is for bringing the young lad to creche which is only a few mins from my house, then I leave the seat there and cycle in and out of work. It's surprisingly balanced with him in the seat and a loaded front rack. For the majority of time there's no seat and it's a normal fixed gear bike with guards and a rack. Functional for me but I can see why some people would see it as ridiculous.

Really nice build! why did you pick an MTB crankset?

Its what I had. Plus, more options for narrow wide chainrings in the 104 BCD

How can you use STI and mountain derailleur?
-
• #14170
That Deore derailleur has the same pull as the road derailleurs i think.
-
• #14171
Yup.
SRAM's even easier to deal with in that regard. 10/11spd mechs and shifters are completely interchangeable. 11spd brifter with a 10spd mtn mech? No problem. 10spd trigger with an 11spd road mech? Without a hitch.

Have you looked in to what your max tooth count is with that setup? I'm guessing 42T would be a stretch too far for that mech?

9 Speed Shimano MTB works with 10 speed Road STI on a 10 speed cassette!

I've not worked it out to be honest. I reckon it would handle 42t though. I plan to try it in the near future. I may need to use a Wolf Tooth Road Link to get it to work properly.
Also being a big fan of the rack, after a certain time I got myself a second porteur-only for another bike.
