Weight and corrosion resistance are worth considering too.
I've had two sets of VO Zeppelins on two bikes and I absolutely love them.

Sorry to spam but does anyone want these before I eBay them? Pari Moto's I bought on here but never really used. They are used though.

The GB is stainless steel...

The alu bends too. The problem is that it work hardens and so each time it cycles through its bend it gets more brittle. Eventually, yes, the alu will snap. Steel will do it too in the end.

Yo, 650ers. I've got a wheelset that's surplus if anyone is keen. 15/100 front and 12/142 rear. 23mm internal. ready to be tubeless with tape and valve. £100

possibly, can you pm pics and more details?

Will do tomorrow. They're at work. Forgot name in post, they're Bontrager duster pro's that came with my slash, but long since upgraded. Minimal use.

Cool, no hurry
11spd & 6 bolt?
I can find 'duster elite' or 'rhythm pro' on google, maybe need to look past first results page

They've annoyingly revamped their range this year. They're the equivalent of the Mustang. Mate works at Trek, so get early hints at what's coming up/disappearing. They might be the elites...
Sorry, I'm going a bit insane, been looking up wheels all day. They are 6 bolt and 11sp indeed.

Forgive me if this has been asked but I'm struggling to find any info online...
650b wheels in a frame designed for 27" wheels using loooong drop calipers. Can it be done?? Anyone here done it? I have a very old frame I'd like to squeeze some nice tires into.
-
• #1012
27"=630mm wheel diameter minus 650B=584mm gives you 46mm, divided by 2=23mm. So check the drop on the current calipers you've got (if any) for 27" wheels and add 23mm. I reckon the drop would be too much.
You would be better off with a frame built for 700c or the old 26 X 1 1/4 for a conversion. -
• #1013
Thanks... Yep thats what I'm thinking. I will be able to pit 700C in there with little issue. I think the extra drop is like 6mm or something. The desire for larger tires is strong though... If only there were a size between 700 and 650...

There is. It's called 650A
-
• #1015
If you are looking for wider tyres there are loads of 700c ones up to 50mm width or 29ers depending on the clearance you've got on forks and between chainstays and the width of the rims you are using.
-
• #1016
Then you enter the world of obscurity!
-
• #1017
Yeah the problem is clearance. Thats why I need smaller wheels for a larger tire. Tire sits further back/lower in between the chainstays/fork blades with more room for expansion.
-
• #1018
I know you have a frame already that you want to use, but you could pick a frame from the 70's which generally have generous clearances for not much money. It would be a more straight forward job.
Also look for the ones that have got the inside of the chainstays crimped, so you could fit up to 42mm tyres, otherwise you might have to settle for 38 or less. -
• #1019
I advised against it, 700c already have a long reach with the brakes, 650b way too much.
A lots of 80/90 steel frame (as long its 700c) is more than enough for 650b conversion.
If you want to stick with the frame, 700c plus big tyres and mudguard will work fine.

Seems like an good price for someone. Takes rim brakes if you want 'em, what's the catch? http://www.justridingalong.com/sale-products/50-off/pacenti-sl23-650b-size.html

I do remember them selling off the old version, prone to cracking etc.
I don't know how well they fixed that with this version?
Yes, for a similar stress, alu have a higher chance of cracking.
That said, it's not difficult to get alu to fit perfectly and not crack, just that if you fitted it a little too tight, then it will crack at some point.
Ill-fitted steel mudguard still retain it shape.
