The problem with them was that you when you pulled on the right-angled part, not much happened at the other end.
No doubt these are more solid, but I'd think they'd be tricky to set-up: on the horizontal part of the bar, the lever is going to hit the underside of the bar; if you have them on an upturned section, then you might struggle to reach the lever.
And they look a bit shit.
Better off with something like a Goldfinger or bar-end lever.
Not unlike the old "suicide" drop bar levers.
