Trek are lovely, but they are sort of sticking to what they know despite producing some excellent bike (such as the trek 920 that is alarmingly light and so much fun to ride).
Cannondale are similar with sticking to what they know, they did make the Slate being the most fun bike ever to ride on road and off.
Their adventure range certainty tick the box from the proper tourer to the lightweight roadie with slightly bigger tyres.
I have ridden the Diverge and it's truly a comfortable and fast bike, well build and excellent equipment (thru axle, flat mount, decent clearance etc.) my colleague got one but eventually change it for the obsoleted* Cannondale Synapse* carbon disc because it felt more like a race bike.
*It didn't even have flat mount on the 2017 model.
