Ha! Yeah, I wasn't joking. I imagine the MOD probably handles the security themselves though. It's probably a very cut-down version of XP.
Doubt it was hacked. The only way would be with a USB a la stuxnet but I'm really not qualified to say if the subs even have USB ports.
Far more likely it misfired because rockets are tricky and go wrong sometimes.
