I reckon it's probably that. There's already quite a lot of evidence that he's nowhere near as rich as he claims and his businesses aren't all that profitable. If his returns support that his big successful businessman act could be damaged...

Because he is a beacon of truth, after all.
I rather fancy that his entire business empire is mortgaged to foreign creditors, and that it only his "celebrity" that makes him any money at all.
Any time that he did make real money, he did so by cutting corners, and bending / breaking the law as much as possible.

How is that reflected in a tax return?!
I expect that they will show something fairly mundane but hurtful to the Trump ego like that he is nothing like as rich as he claims and/or he makes surprisingly little income and lives off assets he already owns rather than actually making money
