This a lovely frame. Being plain is certainly no bad thing, its got some lovely details. I would go 5800 but with 6800 cranks. Itll be a hell of a lot cheaper but look and function nearly identical, save for the rear mech

Yes I like it as it is ... wouldn't have minded a flashy Landshark paintjob on it, but this is great as well.
Had a similar thought. Getting 5800 parts + 9000 crankset, as it would look even better on the frame with the silver headset

Is this factory paint?

yes ... got it from the first owner

Yeah silver finishing kit and cranks would look sweet. Deep carbon is a must obviously. If youre that fussed about decent shifting, 6800 shifters will make a bigger difference than upgrading any other parts. With full Max this will ride like a dream I'd imagine

Just got a 6800 group (without cranks and brakes) on ebay for a decent price.
I guess getting used 9000 cranks and brakes will be the goal now.
Having the black/silver on those two should do the trick. -

Oh T, sounds like a lot of questioning and turmoil here for you. Save yourself while you can and just get rid of that frame.
Just thinking of you, obvs :)

Thats so nice of you ... I think you've got a good point there.
I should just stick to the bikes I already have.
Please send me your address and this will be on the way to you first thing tomorrow morning. I just can't handle it anymore ... -

no problem, just glad to help out here!
back in the real world however...Dura Ace brakes are top notch and the 9000 chainset is the prettiest of the bunch, so the best places to have an "upgrade" on this, I reckon.

An extra vote for 6800 + DA Cranks and Brakes. That is a killer combo and will look amazing on this frame.
Deep china carbon is an absolute necessity also.

Seems like the ebay-seller is unreliable and I have to get ebay to refund my payment for the 6800 parts.
So if anyone has a 6800 group (without cranks) or a DA 9000 175mm crankset for sale, let me know! ;)

Thanks for the heads-up, but I don't think cable-tieing the external cables to the frame will be aesthetically pleasing to me ;)

You have a serotta and a landshark in my size? What's your address? ;)

Ah, good shout. I jumped the gun a little there!

any chance you still own this?
Had this frame for a few months now but as usual there is a long time between buying a frame and riding it. Also money is always tight :(
Anyway I decided to go ahead with this, as my main road bike has some fresh wheels for this season and the current wheelset is "free" ... as I got seatpost/saddle/stem/handlebar with the frameset I only need a groupset.
The main problem is that the silver headset kind of dictates the groupset color for me in most cases. Also the gunmetal Deda parts could work with either black or silver.
So I'm unsure between taking the Shimano 5800 or spending a bit more and going 6800 or even silver with the Campa Potenza.
Any thoughts? Anyone using the Potenza?
Feels like the 6800 would be best option, as it also has kind of a greyish/gunmetal look to it ... but I wouldn't mind spending less and going 5800 as there shouldn't be a big difference performance-wise.
