If that's is of any help, I use a Superstar ring (110mm BCD /5 bolts CX old version), and didn't notice any difference with the Raceface NW I was using previously. Both worked as expected: no noise, no chain deraillements.
Not sure if the Sram or Wolftooth ones are that much better.
In my case it's mounted on the outside -- not that I have a choice: the chainset is older Rotor XC2 with 110mm for the big ring/74mm for the smaller one.
I just measured my chainline, it comes at 51mm. (Keep in mind that I use it on an old MTB with a 73mm bottom bracket shell).
