  • Great build!

I'd say the DA9000 crank would be the final piece of the puzzle. I see you've gone for matching the 6800 parts and the rims, but the polished/black finish of the DA crank would tie the frame and other components nicely together.

  • @spotter first time using them actually and very impressed. My second hand Specialized shoes lasted 6 years, so quite optimistic about these.

@larsenroad Cheers. Had a think about this a few weeks back and think what I'll most likely do is wait until DA9000 comes down in price, and swap most of the parts out. This is in the distant future though!

  • Bare careful with the buckles, they shatter a bit easily. Also, treat yourself to speed plays. you wont regret it.

  • Solid plan. Enjoy the ride.

  • Will bear this in mind, do like how bits are replaceable and easily bought. I've considered this for a few years but always come back to how cheap and good keos are. May keep an eye out for any deals.

  • Saw one of these frames up close the other day, built up with a white Sante groupset. They are stunning, definitely top of my want list (owner was adamant he wouldn't sell! )

Came across this while searching, paint job aside from colours is almost exactly the same as the Leader! Have to admit I've never heard of Luciano Paletti, anyone familiar with this make? Any connection to Moser?

  • Oh yeah, as soon I saw the logo on the seat stays I knew it was Paletti.
Great and famous italian framebuilder. And it shows in that frameset there..stunning in its colors and quality. I am sure it rides as nicelly as the Leader.

  • This is in Italian: http://www.frameteller.it/2016/03/31/paletti/

His master was De Rosa. And he has some quite nice patents under its name.

  • @anidel was just going to post that link myself, some really interesting innovations.

@zootsuit I'm not too sure of the specific connection between the two, but that frame does look very similar the Leader AX like you say, would be interesting to know what the common thread is. Seems Paletti wasn't adverse to using Oria tubing too

  • Well he even got them to make a specific tubeset to his specifications!
Which is the one used for the Meteor indeed, the most sought after of his creations.

  • Small update, managed to get some black bars which are more period correct.

Just the groupset to get right now then. ;-)

  • @Heldring cheers boss

@andyp genuine lolle. Funny because it's true, although DA9000 has to happen at some point.

  • DA9000 has to happen at some point

  • I'm just kidding. Groupsets today are streets ahead of groupsets of nearly 30 years ago.

    It looks mint.

  • Nice looking!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful and desirable road bikes the forum has ever seen. So good.

  • Very kind words indeed, especially from a fellow forum-old-timer like yourself. I'm still chuffed I finally managed to track one down in the geometry and scheme I always wanted after lusting over Bici crono's. I did message him recently with a link to this thread and was interesting to hear his thoughts on how Oria KK compares to Columbus Max. Also I found out these frames were apparently made by Vetta which I didn't know.
