• Yeah that sounds right about full carbon being stronger, but it's more expensive I think so for me it's either carbon with alu steerer tube or full alu. He uses a full aluminium fork and said someting about that it could handle more on impact.

  • The cheap alu steerer one is still fine to ride, the majority of road bike out there have those kind of fork, even with steel steerer.

    A full alu fork will be considerably harsh to ride, and not necessary to handle more impact.

    If you really want a strong fork, your best option is to go for a Surly Steamroller fork, which then you might as well just get a full Surly Steamroller instead.
